I just heard my _________ talking to me!

Another example of Zach's writing from his work with Daily Writing Prompts :


One day I was eating a nice juicy apple.  I was sitting on the swing in my backyard when my apple started saying, "Please, please don't eat me," so I set the apple down and it rolled away.  It made me have nightmares.

"Wow! I'm as tiny as an ant!"

The boys recently had to finish the thought, "Wow!  I'm as tiny as an ant!  Now I can..."


Zach:  "...go into ant holes and crawl under doors.  The grass is a jungle, the trees are scraping the sky.  What will I do?  I will unshrink myself by putting a shrink machine in reverse."

Drew: "...go into dead trees and walk under doors and spy on people without being seen.  Now I can see germs and kill them!  Ahh!  A guy's coming!  I better hide.  Yes!  I have realized that I can hide and find out private conversations.  The End"

Conversation in the McDonald's Drive-Through

Me:  Hey, guys, we're going to stop here a minute, because Zach forgot to make me a sandwich when he packed our lunch for the beach.

Zach:  I didn't forget, Mom.  I just figured you'd want to make your own sandwich because of Weight Watchers.

Me:  Oh, that.  Yeah.  Well...

Drew:  I don't think there's anything here at McDonald's that's appropriate for you, Mom.

Baylee:  Is it too many points, Mom?

Me:  Well...

Zach:  She can eat here, you guys!  She has flex points!  Right, Mom?  You have flex points.

Me:  I...uhh...yeah.  I've got flex points.

Zach:  What are flex points again?

Me:  Oh, those are extra point you can use throughout the week.

Zach:  Wait a minute!  You used those a couple days ago!


Sigh.  You know, it's really hard to cheat around here.  I have to deal with constant comments from the peanut gallery.

Mmm...peanuts...

We're Done! Well...almost.

We're so close to being done with school this year that I feel compelled to write about it.  LOL  All we have left is a bit of Social Studies for Zach, which we'll wrap up next week.  All in all, it was a good year.  It was challenging to figure out how to juggle the job I started in October (in-home caregiving) with school and housework and just living, but with help from Mike everything somehow got done.



Now I'm looking forward to our next school year.  I've given it some thought and prayer, and I've come up with a plan I'm happy with.
